Babies on the brain

I have been working on greeting card ideas. Here are some baby 'congratulation' card sketches and ideas. I welcome comments, thoughts and ideas!

Little Blue Pru

There was a little girl called Pru,
Who woke up one day the colour blue,
As hard as she tried,
Her skin was died,

and there was very little she could do.

Happy Halloween

I hope you all have a fun evening...

Little sea boy

Sorry about the poor quality shot - but I am on the road...

Little people

I found a little woman climbing my notebook. She did not notice me thank goodness so I got a good shot.

Uh oh

Had some fun with the letter 'O'...

Sadness

When my second was born I remember how sad Matilda became.. this drawing was reflecting her sadness at being alone when I was not able to come and play. Makes my heart break thinking about it.

Lingerie cards

Some time ago I designed a range of greeting cards which were a little risqué - but fun too. I adore 1950's style pants with all the lace, ribbons and sexiness that go with them.

Eyes glasses

I was having some fun with a character on a train and what sort of expressions she might have when talking to a friend.

Pretty collage

I used a mixture of old paper and photographs with ink and card to create these images. These are zoom-ins of the main image.

Love note...

I made a little card for my hubby! I used old magazines and cut out the letters which I then put on this fabulous deep red card I bought at a local art shop.
He seemed to like it..

My companion while I work

I cannot get enough of Ruby Ruth Dolls. This doll is called 'Ruby'. Matilda and Georgia adore her. Ruby asked me to paint her portrait - which I obliged. The least I could do as she such a good friend.

Logos

I am designing a logo for my business cards and website...

Fashionista

I keep seeing wonderful people on the street, I wish I had the time to draw them there and then. Maybe I should ask if I could take a photograph - but it might sound really creepy... This is a lady who had a very cool bob.

Harold final illustration

Here is one of the final illustrations for my book 'Harold'. I do love Harold an awful lot...

Today's outlook

Monday is a day with clouds, raspberries, tortoises and umbrellas. Looking forward to it.

Georgia's family

My two year old Georgia did her own sketch of her family. I'm the one far right. I think she takes after her Mummy! he he. Very proud.

A self portrait

Ok so it does not look much like me except for the hair and glasses... but it is kind of funny!

Scene setting

Here is an illustration for a scene in my book. I love doors - I could draw them forever! I also had fun choosing the wallpaper. You know I think I create a virtual home for myself in my drawings.. That could be an idea for another project!

Peek a BOO!

Having a Whale of a time

Here is a sketch for a character I am having lots of fun with. A W.O.P. - work in progress...

Experimenting with colours

I really feel colour has to be experimented with and explored. It is too easy to take paint and immediately use it. When I learned to paint at aged 16 (outside school), my tutor told me you can get every colour you want from blue, red and yellow. I was never allowed to use black!

Bear Sketch/Scratch?!

This is a notebook sketch I did recently. I was trying to get the proportions right which looked easier than I thought!

Mr. Jeremiah Smith

Here is a drawing of a new character. He is a lion who calls himself Mr. Jeremiah Smith. He is a very intelligent but rather grumpy lion.

(I am re-working lots of things at the moment and will hopefully update my blog more frequently as new ideas arise. Writing and sketching is all I am doing for the meantime. When I have something perfected I will get down to planning my book in more detail.)

Waiter

My brother called and asked my to sketch a 'fashion' illustration style butler with a tray. This drawing was done to see if it was the right idea - and he ended up using it lines and all!!

Mermaids

Here is a character who I am developing a story for. I took a little picture of this morning.

Harold is been in the dressing up box again

My cat Harold (my first picture book in the making) is getting up to all sorts...

Look who I found eating the macaroons!!!

I opened up the dolls house this morning and found a strange little mouse trying to steal the macaroons.
He did say sorry however, so I said he could stay...

Cards - 50s style

I found some wonderful old American 'gossip' magazines so had a little bit of fun making some potential greeting cards!!!
